The Tourism Business Council of Zimbabwe has announced its board for the year which will work with the President of the council to see to the implementation of TBCZ’s mandate.
The board which comprises of past TBCZ board members and new members from the business and tourism sector will work towards improving success of Zimbabwe’s tourism industry.
“Information which I wish to share is that we have finalised the Board of the TBCZ for the coming year, and it is one that is made of a number of longstanding members, with a number of new faces joining the team. The TBCZ is grateful for the valuable input given by board members, whose role is to advise and guide the President and team and who play an important role in helping ensure the success of travel and tourism in this country,” the President of TBCZ, Winnie Muchanyuka said at the press briefing.
The board comprises of business people as well as senior players in the tourism industry and will continue to strive towards retainment of foreign currency.
“The travel and tourism sector is doing the best it can to remain viable and operational, and to play the all important role of hosting International visitors to this country who bring us essential foreign currency,” the TBCZ president said.
New members are Agmos Moyo, Carol White, Chipo Mandela, Edwin Shangwa, Gavin Rennie, Gilian Rusike, Givemore Chidzidzi, Shepherd Nyaruwata and Tich Hwingwiri.
The presidium comprises Winnie Muchanyuka, Wengayi Nhau, Karen Tumazos, George Manyumwa and Paul Matamisa. Members who have previously been on the board are Agmos Moyo, Gavin Rennie, Gilian Rusike, Givemore Chidzidzi, Tich Hwingwiri, Winnie Muchanyuka, George Manyumwa and Paul Matamisa.
TBCZ also noted the challenges experienced because of the current economic challenges and pledged to work to their best to facilitate improvement.
“Many great minds are focused on this worrying situation and the problems that make it so. What I would like to say to them all is that we in travel and tourism welcome engagement with the authorities at all levels and in all areas of endeavour, and we offer ourselves as partners when and where we can provide meaningful cooperation and help,” Muchanyuka said.
“It is our hope that growth in tourist arrivals experienced over the past two years can be sustained and even increased in coming months and years, and what is needed for this to happen is for the travel and tourism sector to be nurtured and encouraged to play a key role. We are here and we are ready and willing to join forces with all people and organisations of good will and good intent for the benefit of Zimbabwe,” she added.
