In trying to reach huge markets through its Digital Entertainment On Demand (DEOD) platform, TelOne is geared to roll out more local streamed viewing options for audiences.
In a statement, TelOne Managing Director, Chipo Mutasa said DEOD is a fully converged linear on demand streaming package that brings thousands of hours of viewing to mobile, desktop or TV screens and the ability to download content for viewing offline.
Packages options are flexible with daily, weekly, weekend and monthly options available offering non-stop viewing treats.
“More exciting locally produced content will be launched on the platform this month as part of a tactic to strengthen the Zimbabwean entertainment industry and give local viewers more of what they want.
“The DEOD service has taken the local market by storm since its launch in the country; late last year, thanks to the huge range of viewing content and affordable streaming bundles. DEOD is getting better each day. We are excited to announce that in partnership with Zollywood we are set to roll out more local entertainment, more free viewing and new channels for its viewers. We have plans to unveil 18 new locally produced titles this month,” she said.
All TelOne subscribers, she highlighted, have access to free DEOD channels, which include world news and documentary programmes, and have just moved a further two channels to the free zone with a plan to further develop the platform to suit the market.
Mutasa added that the free channels pave the way for viewers to discover DEOD’s low-cast-paid-for services whereby starting from $10, 34 per today, TelOne subscribers get the full DEOD package, featuring news, movies, series kids’ programmes, sport and music and, zero-rated data.
Streamed entertainment was reported to be taking off in a big way across Zimbabwe as Internet penetration passes the 50 percent mark. Also, it was working tirelessly to reduce the cost of data to enable easy access of streamed entertainment such as DEOD.
“ TelOne DEOD offers real choice at very low prices-viewers can subscribe daily, monthly or monthly with DEOD adding two new channels- Film Box and Film Arthouse Box to the video-on-demand mix, giving viewers access to even more choice in movie blockbusters and new releases,” said Mutasa.
