Dozens of dancers and hundreds of spectators recently enjoyed a unique dance cipher at Harare’s Joina City mall, organised to help promote upcoming exclusive coverage by DStv’s SuperSport of the entire 2022 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament.
Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, said a cipher was an informal dance gathering at which people performed freestyle dance moves to entertain and draw attention to topics.
“We held a fun gathering at Joina City to promote the World Cup as well as launch the #DStvMaUpsChallenge and it turned into an entertaining and enjoyable event that really showed how much talent there is in Zimbabwe,” she said.
The event was organised by MultiChoice Zimbabwe in partnership with Streetlight and Break Nation Dancers, with various competitions run to keep participants and spectators focused and entertained. MCs such as Christyles, Nobie Styles, BlacPerl, and Larry Kwirirayi kept the pace going and added value to the content laid on. Winners of competitions included 11-year-old Louis Kalonga, who received a complimentary month’s subscription to DStv Premium.
Also present was former Caps United and Zimbabwe footballer Alois Bunjira, who mixed with the spectators and helped keep the presence of the World Cup in the gathering.
MultiChoice Zimbabwe’s Keepie Uppie Challenge is ongoing and winners of the various competitive elements of the initiative will be selected weekly. To enter people should post videos of themselves doing keepie uppies as individuals, groups of friends or colleagues, or as families and tag DStv Zimbabwe. Hashtags #WorldCupExperience and #DStvMaUpsChallenge must be included. Prizes include DStv decoders and World Cup-themed hampers.
MultiChoice has partnered with KIA Global, the official automotive partner for FIFA World Cup, to get the country ready for the World Cup experience. SuperSport coverage of the event includes pre-event programming, live coverage of all matches, and post-match reviews. The tournament runs in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. All 64 games will be available to viewers of DStv Premium ($75), Compact Plus ($45), and Compact($29).
