Mliswa dumps politics, opts for tourism cake

In a move likely to brighten the small Karoi farming town status, a new refreshing outing, Spring Resort will open its doors this Saturday.

The facility is owned by politician Honourable Temba Mliswa, who has opted for the enterprising tourism sector. It adds to his farming career and the new facility is embracing the theme of Tourism and Green Investment.

The lodge and restaurant are mainly run on solar energy and efforts to increase the capacity will be completed by year-end.

In a statement, the Spring Resort management said a brand new resort and wellness centre is open for business.

‘‘This Saturday, the flamboyant and athletic influencer and politician, Honourable Temba Mliswa will be hosting various delegates to his new project that promises to shake Karoi to its core,’’ reads the statement.

The farming town of Karoi is predominantly a farmers’ town that also serves as a stopover for clients travelling to Kariba, Mana Pools, and neighbouring countries like Zambia, the Democratic of Congo, and Tanzania among others.

‘‘After the slumber effect of the Covid-19 era on hospitality, Spring Resort, and Wellness Centre has finally made the town dream of world-class services and products in the Mashonaland West town a reality. The lodge boasts of 10 rooms and a thatched restaurant offering fine dining experience at reasonable prices,’’ reads the statement.

The lodge has been in operation for the past years but recently had additional facilities that include waterfront chalets, a fitness and wellness centre, and a wedding venue.

‘‘This has pushed the facility to a world-class service provider. The facility boasts a gym with workout machines and the services of the Honourable TP Mliswa as the coach for corporate to conduct team building exercises,’’ adds the statement.

Invited guests will get a chance to tour the horticulture projects where Mliswa has insisted on practising farming to lessen the carbon footprint that comes with the procurement of goods from distances.

The invited guests will include captains of various industries involved in the tourism activities in Mashonaland West who might want to make use of the facility, government officials and their parastatals, industry leaders and stakeholders in the hospitality industry.

‘‘The aim of this launch is to open the facility to intended guests and usher Karoi into modern tourism. Entertainment and food will be served on this occasion,’’ says the statement.

Mliswa is at the helm of a resort project that has taken on a new and much more luxurious turn. Spring Resort and Wellness Centre, is currently run by Abigail Stephens as the General Manager and Stephen Rodgers as the Managing Director.
