Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon Marian Chombo, has congratulated two of Mashonaland West-based soccer teams for excelling in the 2023 soccer season.
Speaking during a handover ceremony for classroom blocks financed by platinum mine, Zimplats, Hon Chombo congratulated Ngezi Platinum Stars for bagging the Premier Soccer League title.
Hon Chombo also congratulated Northern Region Division One’s Chegutu Pirates FC for securing a place in the 2024 Premier Soccer League after being crowned the Northern Region Division One champions.
“I would like to congratulate our teams from this province for excelling and putting the province on the sports map. This proves we are really Mashonaland’s Best. I want to congratulate Ngezi for taking the championship and Chegutu Pirates FC for being promoted into the Premier Soccer League from Division One,” she said.
Hon Chombo thanked supporters and sponsors for passionately ensuring the achievements of their teams.
“This success is testimony of the support and encouragement these teams receive from their supporters and sponsors and I would like to thank everyone involved in ensuring that these teams fulfilled their supporters’ aspirations,” she said.
Hon Chombo said her office, in partnership with other stakeholders, is planning grand celebrations for the two team’s success.
