Afro house legend in the making — Panashe Chamboko, known by his stage Master Shekkor — a South African-based musician originating from Zimbabwe is sending shockwaves in entertainment circles.
Master Shekkor was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, but later relocated to Namibia where he discovered his love for House Music. He then returned to Zimbabwe in his high school days, where he started off as a House music DJ at Eaglesvale Secondary School, playing at every sporting event and talent show that the school hosts. His musical journey became more serious after high school when he set out to study Music Production and Sound Engineering in South Africa.
“Growing up my late father was against my idea of pursuing a career in the music industry until I passed my matric and my mom convinces him to give me a heads-on to further my studies in the music industry, And my dad said yes.”
The goal driven artist, Master Shekkor ‘s main focus is solemnly on his music and his studies, living his life quietly & minding his own business. His biggest assets include the ability to understand people from different walks of life alongside a knack for working under pressure and producing great results. The only thing that matters to him is music and his dream is to penetrate into the SA mainstream market and then spread his wings to the rest of the African continent.
Master Shekkor describes his sound as Vibey, Up tempo, African Dance Music. He adopts African diversity (drum rhythms of Africa). His deep connection with African ancestral drums is what inspires his music. Basically, his sound is a fusion of the past and the future, creating everything from nothing; the percussions, the chords, the melodies, and arranging everything together to make a complete song!
He has worked with well-known people in the industry, such as Oluhle Ncube, Muungu Queen, and Cape Town-based musician Nolu Madikane. He worked with Nolu Madikane on an Afro-house gospel song entitled “Uthando Lwakho” which went as far as receiving multiple airplay on quite a number of local Radio stations. Uthando Lwakho music video got playlisted on several channels such as Zambezi Magic TV, Trace TV, and Mzansi Magic Music TV.
His latest drop is the visuals for the song ‘ Ingoma ‘ which is featuring an artist named DeeVine Music. This song has also created a huge buzz and gained him tons of fans around SA. ‘Ingoma Music Video’ is currently on high rotation on Channel O #HitList and on Mzansi Magic Music @DSTVThey admire his determination and drive to pursue anything that he wants in life despite the obstacles that he may encounter.
