Music icon and bassist Alick Macheso will tomorrow headline a major concert in the capital, where he is expected to put up a scintillating performance before an audience starved of live performances for quite a while on account of successive Covid-19 lockdowns. An array of local artistes is also expected to perform at the event.
Dubbed “Executive Sungura Show” — the event is a must-attend for sungura lovers, given the Orchestra Mberikwazvo band’s track record of thrilling fans.
Aged 54, Baba Shero as Macheso is affectionately known in the showbiz industry, is famed for hits such as Vapupuri pupurai, Magariro, Charakupa, Pakutema munda, Madhuwe and Baba naMai among others.
The Dollarbill Entertainment Unlimited organised event will take place at Theatre in the Park, a 500-seater venue located next to Parkview Restaurant in the Harare Gardens.
“The venue — the first-ever theatre built since 1980 in Zimbabwe’s capital — is centrally located to provide ease of access for theatre lovers in the city. We are located in the Harare Gardens at corner Leopold Takawira and Herbert Chitepo avenues. The event will run from 6 pm-10 pm. There will be a full bar and catering for patrons. All Covid-19 protocols will be strictly observed. Please book your tickets now to avoid disappointments,” said the Theatre in the Park founder, Daves Guzha.
Theatre in The Park — a preferred venue for theatre lovers is suitable for concerts, weddings, album launches, and church gatherings — has since its inception in 2016 helped fledgling artistes gain exposure to larger and diverse audiences.
