ZANU (PF) local Authority aspiring councillors who lost in the just-ended harmonised elections have vowed to continue serving the residents of Kadoma despite their loss to the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
The youthful aspiring ZANU (PF) candidates accepted the defeat and promised to continue to serve the people of Kadoma in their respective wards. Most of the aspiring candidates had started some developmental projects and they vowed to finish with open hearts.
Among the ZANU (PF) aspiring local authority councillors to concede defeat was Ward 4 Councillor Godwin Gwara who battled out with the CCC candidate.
“I accept that I lost the seat but I will continue with the developmental projects which I had started in the ward,” said Gwara, who had started some poultry, and brick moulding projects.
Other ZANU (PF) losing candidates included Maruma Evans who lost in Ward 5, Chizuzu Timothy (Ward 12), and Mutami Lazarus (Ward 13). They all lost to CCC candidates and they all accepted that they lost and promised to continue with their developmental projects.
“I accept that I lost the race but I will continue with the projects which I was running in the ward and I will continue serving people if they approach me,” said Evans Maruma.
Zimbabwe went to the polls on the 23rd of August where the citizens were voting for the Presidential, House of Assembly and Local Authority. For presidency, President Mnangagwa won with 52,6% beating CCC’s Nelson Chamisa who got 44 %. ZANU (PF) got 136 seats and CCC got 73 seats in the House of Assembly. In the local authority elections, CCC won in most urban cities including Kadoma which means the coming Council in Kadoma will be a CCC-run council.
Kadoma Residents will be expecting the incoming Councillors to outwit the previous Councillors by restoring the City to its former glory. The City has been experiencing poor service delivery. Some of the roads are in poor state and sewer pipes bursts are the order of the day.
CCC won all local government seats in Kadoma and the residents will be banking on the elected Councillors to address the challenges facing the City.
