Zvimba North – A local Islamic Non-Government Organization has partnered with Zvimba North Constituency Member of Parliament Marian Chombo in the provision of safe drinking water in the least development reached communities in the area.
The Turkish NGO’s Trustee will install various solar-powered boreholes in the constituency.
During a tour of the Mushoshore-Duwa community, it was revealed that the community relies on a nearby river for water whilst children as young as six have to walk over 10 km to Guruve to attend school.
The area borders Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central with the community so far constructing a two-classroom block supported by the MP.
Sakhina Makunganya, the Turkish NGO’s Trustèe Projects Coordinator visited the community where they were shown sites where the solar-powered boreholes will be installed.
She was in the company of her assistant Monica Chibisa and Zvimba North legislator Marian Chombo.
Hon Chombo said the government is focusing on least developed areas with support from constituency development and devolution funds. This is meant to ensure such places get the requisite infrastructure for development so that no one or no place should be left behind.
“This area is one of the few places in the constituency that are least developed. Our focus is on accelerating development activities for such areas and we are grateful as the government for partners that are coming to complement government efforts in the water and education sector among others in ensuring our people get all the support for a comfortable life. As the MP, I am grateful for the development partnership with the people of the Islamic community through the Turkish NGO’s Trustee,” she said.
The organization also went to donate food hampers and wheelchairs to the elderly and people with disabilities in Raffingora.
