Kadoma gold mining outfit Golden Valley Football Club coach Leo Kurauzvione has blamed their defeat to Harare side Golden Eagles on a psychological downside.
Golden Eagles made light work of the Kadoma-based side in the second of a doubleheader installment match played at Chakari Stadium yesterday.
The visitors came out triumphant 1-4 after exhibiting a flawless display of exciting footwork.
“We’re not well prepared mentally. My players have a lot of things to worry about on their minds. They cannot commit to the task at hand. How do you expect someone to do duty well when they’re thinking of other pressing issues. Obviously, they won’t perform. They’re very much frustrated.
“You see, we are borrowing match balls from here. These balls we’re using at home are not ours. We have a single ball to use at training. How can we conduct our business to satisfaction when we cannot train to the desired outcome,” said a distraught Kurauzvione in a post-match interview.
His gangly counterpart, Joel Luphahla attributed the victory to consistency.
“We were very much hurt by the defeat to Simba Bhora in our first match. We are working hard in training to perfect our game. After that first defeat, we had to commit ourselves with more determination. We would have loved to keep a clean sheet today, unfortunately, we conceded that goal,” said the former Warriors winger.
Quizzed on the two goals by each of his two substitutes he replied, “As a coach, you understand your players and read the game. For these two subs, I’ve coached them since they were younger. I know where they fit. You read the game and know where to play them. That was a tactical move and they scored. The other one has always scored when l bring him on as a substitute,” he said before finding his way out of the pitch.
