In the quest to tackle the international economic crisis as a result of the Russia-Ukraine war, Zimbabwe is going to host a big Hybrid International Symposium in Victoria Falls at Elephant Hills Hotel, courtesy of Global Renaissance.
“The symposium, to run from 24 to 26 May 2022 in the resort town of Victoria Falls, is going to focus on the Russia and Ukraine conflict risks which are now affecting the global village as the cost of living is going up. Fuel is now scarce and very expensive because the major producer, Russia, is under sanctions. The ripple effect is being felt in all sectors of the global village.
“Today, Americans are now queuing up for fuel. What will happen to underdeveloped countries in Africa in the next 6 months to come? Only disaster is looming and this event is meant to find quick-fix solutions to the World Economic Criss at hand. Nigerian Airways has shut down. What more of the other major airlines’ businesses etc? Governments are also threatened by this crisis as people are going to lay blame on the authorities yet it is an exogenous effect,” said Ngoni Dzirutwe, the Director of Global Renaissance.
He said Zimbabwe, for example, is threatened by a shutdown strike hinged on the high costs of living pushed up by the global crisis. In South Africa, the current uptick is caused by people who are feeling the heat of price increases. Goods are going up by more than 20%.
“What more if the conflict lasts for more years? Food security of 2022 is also under major threat since the key inputs come from Russia. Fertilizer is going to be scarce as well and prices will shoot up. We need alternatives now as the global village. Europe is going to be hard-hit from next year as the fuel and gas are going to be unaffordable. Hence the international symposium is going to proffer some of the next best alternatives.
“Safety issues are also under threat given the about 5th wave of Covid 19. Businesses and governments have to put their heads together and fight the exogenous factors. This is an event not to miss if you want your businesses and governments to stay afloat,” Dzirutwe added.
International keynote speakers have been put together to share ideas, knowledge, and insights on global risks and safety management measures.
Dzirutwe warned that if businesses sleep on these exogenous risks, they are going to find themselves out of business soon than later and a lot of investors are going to lose a lot of money.
