BANKET- Those involved in the distribution of the Presidential Agriculture Inputs have been warned against the abuse of the system as the full wrath of the law will take its course.
The sentiments were made by Mashonaland West Province Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Mary Mliswa-Chikoka during a Pfumvudza/Intwasa roll out Program for Zvimba District in Banket.
“Government is committed in helping families kick out hunger at household level with families receiving free agriculture inputs under the Presidential Inputs Scheme which is now known as Pfumvudza/Intwasa program which is being carried out at household level.
“I would like to warn those involved in the distribution of the inputs to desist from abusing the system as the law will definitely take its course and we want everyone to benefit in a transport manner so we collectively contribute towards the fulfilment of President Emerson Mnangagwa’s vision 2030 where our country should attain an upper middle income economy by the year 2030 and agriculture is one of the key contributors towards economic development,” she said.
Mliswa said Mashonaland West Province was on pole position against other provinces on the success of pfumvudza for 2020/21 agriculture season with a high yield output.
“We are happy that as Mashonaland West we were the best province in implementing the Pfumvudza program with our farmers contributing a high yield towards the national grain output,” she said.
Meanwhile Chief Zvimba, Stanley Mhondoro said strong monitoring systems should be put in place as the inputs end up being sold in the black market.
“We want to thank the government for the pfumvudza initiative and I’m requesting that strong monitoring systems should be put in place as those receiving these inputs end up selling the inputs on the black market which is not good,”he said.
At least fifty four farmers who successfully carried out the pfumvudza program in 2020/21 agriculture season received inputs as a token of appreciation at the event.
