‘Leonard DJ Drummer B’ Ware and friends

“I am so humbled and feeling warm inside to see my DJ friend DJ Drummer B Ware presented with the Spirit Of Detroit Award this morning by councilwoman Janee’ Ayers and the members of Detroit City council. I have worked with Dj Drummer B on a number of editions from a project we instigated called the Skype and Mix, DJ collaboration between Detroit Djs and Zimbabwean DJs,” Zamuchiya said.

The Award

The Skype and Mix project is a project that was initiated and conceptualized from the Zimbabwe Cultural Centre of Detroit (ZCCD) which was formed by Kumbulani Zamuchiya and his colleague/collaborator Chido Johnson, to serve to dismantle naturally occurring as well as constructed boundaries both physical and otherwise, with a view to promoting a community which has the global and local in mind.

“Recognizing our role as cultural ambassadors, we endeavor to foster a culture of research, dialogue, and production across the boundaries of Detroit, Michigan and Zimbabwe. I invite you to check our work and activities on our Facebook page, Zimbabwe Cultural Centre of Detroit, and Facebook page 156 Tambira Lab,” Zamuchiya added.
