Information reaching Spiked Online Media is that there has been a complaint sent to  Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) about serious and damaging allegations on the state of the Botswana Football League and how it is run.

We have it on good authority that material has been submitted as part of that complaint.

Our sources tell us that FIFA is currently considering commissioning an investigation in the Botswana Football League. Similar actions have been taken in the Algerian and Namibian Leagues.

Allegations include interference by the League Chairman in the outcome of events to suit his Team which is vying for the League Championship; match manipulation; destabilization of opponents; as well as capture of the BFL and Botswana football in general.

Unfortunately, these things are reportedly happening in a country that wants to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027.

“I can confirm that my Club has been at the receiving end of unfortunate decisions. We would welcome any intervention with regard to all that is going on. I’m not at liberty to comment further, unless to a competent authority when the time comes,” Jagdish Shah, President of Township Rollers FC told Spiked Online Media.

Efforts to get a comment from the Chairman of the Botswana Football League, Nikolas Zakhem who is also the President of Gaborone United – current leaders of the BFL Log, as well as other BFL Board Members, Kagiso Mogocha (Chairman, Orapa United), Tebogo Sebego (President, Notwane FC), and Njabulo Gilika (Jwaneng Galaxy) were fruitless at the time of going to print.
