This year is the second edition of the Zimbabwe Job Fair, a two-day event created to ease connections between local job-seekers and potential employers in Harare.
Running under the theme ‘Bridging Talent with Chinese Company Opportunities’, the job fair slated for East End Hall at the Harare Exhibition Centre is being organised by local recruitment agency Victory Milestone in partnership with China Africa Economic and Culture Exchange Research Centre.
Chinese investments and companies make a significant contribution to the employment of skilled individuals in Zimbabwe. This aligns with the government’s efforts to create numerous job opportunities for Zimbabwean citizens, fostering a mutually beneficial business development solution between China and Zimbabwe.
The second edition of the Zimbabwe Chinese Enterprises Job Fair is scheduled to take place on November 3rd and 4th, 2023, at the Nelson Mandela Hall, Harare Agricultural Showgrounds.
The event is organized by the Chamber of Chinese Enterprises in Zimbabwe (CCEZ) and the China Zimbabwe Exchange Centre (CZEC) in collaboration with the Victory Milestone Recruitment Agency. CCEZ facilitates business and economic activities between China and Zimbabwe.
CZEC is a registered Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) that contributes to national development through sustainable projects. Victory Milestone Recruitment Agency is a registered employment agency that provides human resources solutions to companies in Zimbabwe.
These organizations work closely with Chinese companies to promote job creation and facilitate Chinese corporate social responsibility in the communities they operate in.
Speaking in Harare on Monday Secretary General of the Chamber of Chinese Enterprises in Zimbabwe, Wenjie Li said this year’s Job Fair will feature numerous companies offering a wide range of job opportunities, spanning from general labour positions to executive roles.
He said industries represented will include mining, agriculture, manufacturing, construction, logistics, and supply chain management.
“The inaugural edition of the job fair was held on two separate occasions, once at the prestigious Harare Showgrounds and another at Stanbic Park in Borrowdale. These events collectively presented a total of 1,500 job opportunities spanning various industries and professions. The positive impact of these job fairs on the lives of many Zimbabweans cannot be overstated, as it has significantly improved their ability to provide for their families and secure a sustainable livelihood,” said Li.
“The Zimbabwe Chinese Enterprises Job Fair aims to strengthen the socio-economic ties between China and Zimbabwe. China has consistently been the largest contributor to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Zimbabwe.
“With initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative, BRICS, and FOCAC, Chinese employers are expected to create a surge in job opportunities. In light of this, the job fair serves as a platform for Chinese employers operating in Zimbabwe to recruit highly skilled and talented individuals who will contribute to the employer’s interests and the country’s development agenda.
“Furthermore, the job fair aligns with Zimbabwe’s education 5.0 strategy by providing employment opportunities that utilize modern technology and skills. This approach not only addresses some of our country’s challenges but also facilitates the transfer of skills and knowledge during the course of employment. Additionally, selected employees may have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs in China, further enhancing their expertise and broadening their skill set,” added Li.
