All roads lead to the Crown Plaza Hotel in Harare on Friday 25 November 2022 for the Annual Health Research Ethics Forum where various stakeholders will converge to deliberate on the important matter.
Vimbai Mukwekwezeke, the Research Compliance Officer for the Medical Research Council of Zimbabwe, the organisers of the workshop, in an interview with Spiked Online Media, underscored the importance of the forum.
“This will be an event where stakeholders will have an opportunity to discuss various issues relating to the inclusion of communities in the research process, and thereby come up with recommendations of how we can strengthen community participation and engagement in the research process,” Mukwekwezeke said.
The Theme for this year is “Putting Communities at the Centre of Health Research, Lessons Learnt from Pandemics/Epidemic.”
The Guest of Honour will be Dr. John Mangwiro, the Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care,
The key speakers are Prof K Kranzer (A Clinical Microbiologist and Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology); Mr Tapiwa Kujinga – A lawyer and Director of the Pan-African Treatment Access Movement (PATAM); Dr Brian Moyo – National Epidemiologist; Dr Kudakwashe Takarinda; and a Community Advisory Board member, Maud Pachawo.
The afternoon session will be having seasoned experts such as Mr T Mudzviti, Dr W Mavhu, Mr W Gurupira, Dr Nyasha Dzavakwa and Mr Chirimunzeve.
