Widely travelled afro-fusion group, Mokoomba has scored themselves a regular slot at the newly opened exquisite Pabloz Club and VIP at Sam Levy Village in Borrowdale starting tomorrow evening.
The slot is an indicator that the group is making huge strides in grabbing the home crowd.
In an interview with Spiked Lifestyle, Mokoomba manager Marcus Gora said, “This month we will be performing on 13 (tomorrow) and 27 before we leave for a show at the Barefeet Festival in Zambia where we stage along with Nigeria’s Femi Kuti on the 29th.” This will be the second time Mokoomba is performing in Zambia having staged a successful show at the Earth Festival in Livingstone which received raving reviews in international media.
Gora said, “We will be doing a semi-acoustic set at Pabloz. We are trying to create an environment where people can listen to good music and still be able to chat and network.” This will not be the first time Mokoomba is staging at the venue having shared an intimate evening with revelers last month. The next shows at Pabloz will be on September 17, October 1 and 22 and November 05 and 19.
Meanwhile, the year has been steady but fruitful for the group that has vastly toured the world raising Zimbabwe’s flag high. “We have done a good number of local and regional shows, highlights being the successful HIFA opening show in April, the Ngoma neHosho Live Sessions with Hugh Masekela and Victor Kunonga and headlining the Cape Town Nu World Festival with Kanda Bongoman in July,” said Gora.
Upcoming international concerts include a headline performance at the Lake of Stars in Malawi alongside Toya Delazy (SA) late September.
