The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) and the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) are calling for peace to prevail in the country and for the media to report responsibly.
This emerged at a media sensitisation workshop held in Harare on 22 October 2018 where it emerged that for any country to have a feasible transformation and development, peace is the foundation.
The Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Honourable Energy Mutodi who was present at the Media Workshop said, “The government of Zimbabwe would be eager to partner with and complement the efforts of any organisation that seeks to promote peace through dealing with issues relating to family values, which is part and parcel of our culture”.
“My ministry will be readily available to advocate for the dissemination of all relevant information for the realisation of peace through imparting, reinforcing extending and sensitising media texts that transform society in a positive way,” reiterated Hon Mutodi.
Rev Jean Ghomsi from the FFWPU articulated that it is disturbing that the number of single parents, abortion and sexually transmitted diseases are high in African countries today.
Therefore FFWPU advocates for sexual abstinence before marriage and faithfulness to one another after marriage.
FFWPU will host the “Peace Starts With Me, Peace & Family Festival” on the 17th of November at the National Sports Stadium in Harare. The festival will run under the theme “Strong and Healthy families make a healthy and prosperous nation.”
Rev. Jean Ghomsi said, “The festival will be meant to heal the wounds of the past and support the Zimbabwe government’s endeavours for peace and reconciliation.Mother Moon will be coming to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Zimbabwe.”
This Festival will see the marriage re-dedication, Holy Blessing of forty thousand (40 000) couples, where couples will receive a blessing prayer, committing to renew marriage vows and create God-centred families.
