The third annual Let Them Festival will this year be held on 24 and 25 July at the Harare Showgrounds Fun Park area.
The festival meant to celebrate and inspire creativity in children will feature an exciting lineup of theatre, dance and music. The Let Them Trust and festival director Chido Musasiwa said, “The festival will start with a theatre program on 24 July and a mixture of dance and music on the following day. Both events will run from 9 am to 5 pm.”
This year’s Let Them Festival will run under the theme: ͞My Journey Begins Now͟. “The schools festival will feature poetry, theatre, music and dance performances from popular musicians and performing students. Schools from around Zimbabwe will converge at the festival to compete and showcase their artistic talents,” said Musasiwa.
Let Them Festival is a child-oriented, creative, educational and cultural entertainment initiative. “We aim to create a platform for young people to unleash their artistic talent and engage them in discussions which focus on issues affecting them like HIV and Aids, social stigmas and children’s rights and preservation of cultural heritage,” she added.
“With our standing Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Let Them’s schools program is designed to drive established artists to schools and impact young people positively.” Last year, artists among them Junior Bantan and Ba Shupi performed in collaboration with school students. This year artists such as Tehn Diamond and Transit Crew are expected to be part of the perfomers.
