Mutoko-based Gohori Resort is emerging as an epitome of domestic tourism in line with a campaign introduced by Hon Barbra Rwodzi, the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, dubbed “Uripi/Ungapi” which has seen locals developing interest in activities like safari, sight-seeing, and mountain climbing.
Gohori Resort, the tourism landscape-changing rural-bush luxury resort, hosted a Zimbabwean local media familiarisation trip from the 23rd to the 25th of February 2024.
The media trip was aimed at providing the local fourth estate with a first-hand experience of the Budya hospitality that the resort delivers while exploring the tourist attractions located in Mutoko. These attractions include Mutoko Ruins, birdwatching, village walks, cultural experiences, and Mt Mutemwa.
“Gohori is a luxury resort offering a unique customer-centric service. The media is our key partner, and we are delighted to have hosted them for a family trip with a 2-night accommodation at our beautiful property. The trip included activities and visits to many attractions found in the area such as Mutoko Ruins, the famous Ruchera Caves, and sacred Mutemwa Mountain” said General Manager Gohori Resort Tendai Zimbowora.
Since opening its doors in September 2023 Gohori Resort continues to attract different customer segments including both local and international visitors. Demand for overnight accommodation has grown from business executives in the mining and agricultural sectors, travellers crossing into Mozambique and religious pilgrims fellowshipping at Mt Mutemwa.
“We continue to focus on developing Mutoko and providing an accommodation facility that is of a world-class standard. Our continued investment in phases two and three of the development of Gohori Resort will the lodge in league with bush safari properties in South Africa,” commented Bernard Kasekete, the Founder of the resort.
He added “While we are solely focused on this development, we have not lost sight of our involvement in the community of Mutoko with investment into skills development of local farmers and communities. Most of our staff are born and raised in Mutoko reaffirming our commitment to the mutual benefit derived from the existence of Gohori Resort”.
In the coming weeks and months, Gohori Resort will host travel and lifestyle influencers and more media partners on a product familiarisation drive.
