The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon Marian Chombo officially opened the over-subscribed Mashonaland West Province Investment conference that was held at Kadoma Rainbow Hotel with potential investors challenging local authorities to adapt to capital business investments to attract more investments.
Officially opening the conference, Mashonaland West Provincial Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon Marian Chombo, said all sectors should work in unison to come up with robust interventions that will help unlock investments
“Our National Vision 2030 reflects the collective aspirations and determination of the people of Zimbabwe “towards a prosperous and empowered upper-middle income society by 2030.
“There is a need for us all to work as a team and develop robust strategies that will unlock investment in the Province as well as join hands with the nation towards the attainment of the goals of Vision 2030. In line with the mantra of leaving no one and no place behind, we therefore call for investments across all sectors to achieve the inclusive development we aspire to.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here to discuss investment in Mashonaland West Province, focusing on investment opportunities that flourish within the Province, investment enablers as well as the financing aspect,” she said.
Honorable Chombo said the conference seeks to lure investors in the various sectors to increase the Provincial GDP.
“This investment conference provides a platform for the Province to showcase its potential that is fully exploited and will enable the accomplishment of the desired economic growth and development envisaged in the Provincial Economic Development Plan. The broader aim is to increase the Provincial GDP. In the Provincial Economic Development Plan, the Province aims at
increasing agriculture output of cereals, horticulture, and other cash crops through extensive development and resuscitation of irrigation infrastructure,” she said.
Hon Chombo reiterated the importance of maximizing mining and mining development of the vast mineral resources; increasing local value addition and beneficiation; promoting tourist investment; and developing of robust road network, communication, health, and human capital development as key enablers among others.
Honorable Chombo urged conference participants to seize opportunities created at the conference.
” For Local Authorities, businesses, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, this is your opportunity to engage and make investment arrangements as we actively participate and network during this Conference, ” she added.
Various participants called for initiatives that will create employment and infrastructure development by establishing value addition and processing plants in the province.
