Thousands of protestors and hordes of organizations throughout South Africa continue to voice their concerns over the war in Gaza, demanding the immediate expulsion of Ambassador Eliav Belotserkovsky from their land.
In a media statement, MP Nkosi Mandela applauded organizations that supported the vote to expel the apartheid Israeli ambassador, Belotserkovsky.
He said the move was an important step towards totally severing ties with the Zionist apartheid state.
“We applaud the EFF for initiating this motion and the ANC for unequivocally sending a strong message that we will never support genocide and the atrocities committed by apartheid Israel in Gaza and all of the occupied territories. They must be held accountable for their continued violation of international law and fundamental human rights.”
MP Mandela described the vote as a historic jab.
“This is a historic moment for the Anti-apartheid Solidarity Network in SA. It is the first of many milestones that we have to achieve in our struggle to free Palestine. We must continue to work together and mobilize support and solidarity with the people of and all of occupied Palestine.”
The move, MP Mandela says, sends a strong message to the people of Gaza and all of occupied Palestine that SA stands with them and that it supports their struggle for freedom.
The ANC proposed an amendment to the motion and called for a temporary closure of the embassy of Israel in SA until it agrees to a lasting ceasefire and commits to binding UN-facilitated negotiations whose outcome must be just, lasting, and sustainable peace.
The lawmaker urged parliament and like-minded entities to turn their energies to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), to demand the prosecution of all, in their country, who fight with Israel.
“We’ve already submitted the names of 49 individuals who have allegedly contravened the law, Foreign Military Assistance Act, Chapter 15 of 1998, and must be prosecuted.”
ANC, EFF, National Freedom Party, Pan Africanist Congress, and Islamic Al Jama-Ah Party all support the vote to expel under fire Amb. Belotserkovsky.
Democratic Alliance, African Christian Democratic Party, and Freedom Front Plus opposed the vote, allegedly exposing their politics of hypocrisy and support for apartheid Israel and its genocide and, all of occupied Palestine.
“The state of Palestine reiterates that there will be no peace with the policy of annexation and apartheid. There will be no peace as long as the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people continues. Palestinian people will continue their national struggle until they win their legitimate rights and establish their independent sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital,” said Palestine Ambassador to Zimbabwe H.E Dr Tamer Almassri.
