Kadoma and Chegutu fans are in for another sungura fete as Simon Mutambi and First Farai descend on their environs this weekend at MacSherp Shopping Complex and Mesina Bar in juggling order.
The trio plays at MacSherp Complex Friday night, takes their act to Mesina Bar on Saturday, and is back in Kadoma on Sunday, completing a three-pronged gig.
Macsherp Complex is in Kadoma and its sister business, Mesina Bar, is found just a stone’s throw north of Chegutu Town along the Harare-Bulawayo highway.
The two will partner with ace resident musician Jindarume Fidza Matsveru for a triumvirate lyrical treat.
The potentially explosive musical show pits two of the sungura genre proponents who want to prove that they are still in the game.
That in itself will make them bring the best on stage for the music followers and enthusiasts.
Tatenda Pinjisi was at the same venue at the end of August when he also played alongside Taruvinga Majokoto a.k.a Shuga Shuga. The musician seems to have been charmed by his newfound support in the town and city.
At that intended marathon with Shuga Shuga, Chegutu fans did not have a feel for him as the two musicians had to jointly celebrate at an impromptu party organized by businessman Jimayi Muduvuri who owns both complexes.
First Farai appears to emerge from his cocoon after going quiet for some reasons best known to himself.
Born Aliah Mwanambo, the Hurudza Express frontman has a lot to prove on the music scene to regain his lustre. Jindarume Fidza Matsveru usually pulls his best, giving touring musicians a good run for their money.
Of Fidza, Mutambi said “Mkoma Fidza should be called Mr Kadoma in terms of music. He has done a lot on the music scene in the city. We recognize and respect him for that. For me, he is the real force behind music development in the city.”
