As a pacesetter in demonstrating the importance of a clean and safe environment for all, and as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), leading mobile telephony company, NetOne, yesterday embarked on a nationwide clean-up campaign with its leaders tidying up Harare’s environs.

The clean-up exercise was done in observance of the first Friday of each calendar month, the National Clean-Up Campaign, as declared by His Excellency Emmerson Mnangagwa, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

NetOne general manager, Mr. Learnmore Musunda said the clean-up campaign takes place at all the telecommunication giant’s offices countrywide.

“As we are actually supporting the government’s initiative, this is happening across Zimbabwe. We partner with EMA and local authorities. Not only local authorities in cities and towns but we are also actually working with growth points and rural local boards. Last time we were in Zaka with their Member of Parliament cleaning the local township”, Mr. Musunda said.

NetOne is working with the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) in land reclamation.

”As you are aware, we have base stations countrywide so we are embarking on projects to conserve the environment in terms of land degradation. Also, we want to use solar energy on our base stations to safeguard the environment,” he added.
