A Bikita-born gospel musician who credits his musical career to the influence of fellow artiste Mathias Mhere is set to release an album next week.
Titled Bye Bye Nhamo, the 5-track album will be launched on 8 July in the capital.
Speaking to this publication, Sir Forichi born Darlington Forichi said the album is laden with messages of hope, resilience, and righteousness.
“The songs that are included in the forthcoming album include the title track Bye Bye Nhamo, Siya Zvakaipa, Pharaoh, Chasara Panyika Kunamata, and Ndiringei,” Sir Forichi explained.
“Bye Bye Nhamo speaks on the afflictions people face in life that include infertility, poverty, and misfortunes but we say some of these are caused by our own hence ‘Siya Zvakaipa’ encourages people to stay away from sinful deeds.
” The only way out is in praying (Chasara Panyika Kunamata) even when (Pharoah) stands in your way just call for divine intervention from the almighty (Ndiringei),” added the lanky musician.
Asked about where he draws his inspiration from, the St John Apostolic Church of the Whole World congregant said he is inspired by Mathias Mhere.
“The biggest influence in my music journey is Mathias Mhere. His catalogue of songs made an impact on my life.
” However, I have to also mention how my manager DJ Spunky made significant strides in moulding my career,” quipped Forichi.
The album was produced at NotNice Studios.
This writer had the privilege to sample some of the tracks and it was the title track Bye Bye Nhamo that emerged as a gem. It has perfect vocals and well-arranged instrumentation.
Forichi joins an array of gospel musicians who fellowship at St John Apostolic Church of the Whole World that includes Mambo Dhuterere, King Solomon, Booster, Joseph Tivafire, and Craig Zonke among many others.
The church leader, Bishop Dr. Sydney Mabhiza, has been supportive and instrumental in spurring these musicians’ careers.
