Aspiring Councillor for Kadoma’s Ward 4, Godwin Gwara (ZANU PF), has started offering service delivery to the residents in his ward .
Gwara, who is a youthful entrepreneur, recently joined hands with another aspiring Kadoma Central legislator, Cosmas (Cossy Rules) Daka to collect refuse from the streets and has spearheaded the connection of sewer pipes in the homes of some residents with the help of Kadoma City Council. He has been giving goodies to the elderly in various churches in Ward 4.
Speaking to this publication, the youthful aspiring Councillor, said he felt it fit to work and help the residents by collecting refuse which had gone for weeks without collection.
Gwara asked Cosmas Dhaka to help with his trucks so that they collect the refuse which the aspiring Member of Parliament did.
“I felt it fit to come to my ward which I intend to represent and start collecting refuse. The ward had gone for some time without refuse collection. I am happy to say that we are managing the situation,” said Gwara.
Early this week, Gwara with the help of the Kadoma City Council, started laying sewer pipes connecting RB houses where residents had gone for ages without proper toilets. The residents have been using the bucket system or public toilets which were proving difficult for the elderly who are the most senior residents in the area.
RB houses are one of the oldest houses in Kadoma and since they were built, there were no proper toilets and a sewer line for more than 40 years. Thanks to the youthful entrepreneur, the residents now have proper toilets.
“We are happy that we are going to have our own toilets after such a long time. We would like to thank Gwara for coming together with the council to lay these sewer pipes,” said one resident on behalf of the other residents.
This is not the first time the youthful entrepreneur has helped the community he lives in. He once helped the community in Ward 7 with the solar-powered borehole after the previous borehole was vandalised. The solar-powered borehole is helping the elderly by providing hampers to them. He also installed the wifi so that the youth and the rest of the Community could have access to the internet.
“This time I am making sure that the occupants in the RB houses have decent toilets that they use as households instead of public toilets. It was difficult for the occupants,” said Gwara.
A Rimuka resident said the community needs employment opportunities which Gwara is doing. One Mrs. Ruwizhi told this publication that residents needed good roads, water, and other social amenities and the laying of sewer pipes is a good sign that good old days are coming.
“Through providing employment, there are many things that the young entrepreneur is spearheading in Ward 3 and 4, where he recently organised men-run projects that included brick molding. The broiler projects for men, if properly handled, will uplift the lives of households in the ward.
“I decided to come up with this initiative so that men in this ward are empowered through these projects,” said Gwara.
Gwara won the ticket to represent ZANU PF in the upcoming harmonised elections scheduled to take place in July or August this year. He is likely to face candidates from CCC, MDC-A, or MDC-T.
The entrepreneur is slowly changing the lives and the face of the ward he is going to represent for the better by making sure he fulfills the promise he did to them when he was vying for the ticket to represent the ruling party.
