HE Hon Chief Fortune Charumbira, the President of the Pan African Parliament (PAP) conveyed the continental legislative body’s wishes as from Thursday 23rd March 2023 (today) as the Muslim world begins observing the holy month of Ramadhan.
During Ramadan, Muslims across the world will observe fasting for a whole month.
“On this sacred occasion, I, Honourable Chief Fortune Charumbira, President of the Pan-African Parliament, convey my best wishes to all Muslim Members of the PAP for an excellent and transformative month of Ramadhan. I pray to God to accept your fasting and prayers and further petition God to make this holy month an opportunity for advancing peace, security, and stability on our Continent and strengthening the bonds of solidarity between our African peoples. Ramadhan Mubarak to all,” Chief Charumbira said.
Last year at the start of the holy month of Ramadan, DStv’s Muslim viewers got an additional channel to reinforce their month of fasting and reflection with the launch of Ramadan TV.
The pop-up channel started operating on Friday, April 1 2022 for 4 weeks to the Day of Eid, with the sighting of the moon at the end of Ramadan.
The content was sourced from within Southern Africa as well as internationally.
Ramadan TV was available on DStv channel 346 to Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Family, and Access customers.
Programming included live prayer broadcasts, live pledge lines, messages from leading Islamic scholars, daily Quraan programmes, and live iftaar programmes.
