Israel, which has for long believed that it is above international law as evidenced by the recent scandal when it tried to impose itself on the African Union was left with an egg on the face when the latter ejected its representatives from their meeting last week.
The African Union last year suspended Apartheid Israel’s observer status but they tried to hijack the African Union Summit by attending it without being invited.
His Excellency Tamer Almassri, the Ambassador of Palestine to Zimbabwe said the shenanigans by Israel show how Israel disregards international laws and protocols.
“The expulsion is consistent with the AU’s support for our people and their legitimate rights. Israel should never be rewarded for its violation and for the apartheid regime it does impose on the Palestinian people. Granting Israel observer status in the African Union, which has committed human rights violations against the Palestinian people, is against the Union’s statutes.
“In fact, Israel wants to divide Africa. That Is why they continue to persist in these shenanigans. Israel’s history in Africa is well-known. They supported colonial governments in Africa including the apartheid government of W Botha in South Africa. Its character has never changed and it continues to implement its occupation and worst apartheid policies in Palestine. Today, Israel continues to discriminate against African people either Jews or emigrants. They are treated not as humans,” Ambassador Almassri said.
The Ambassador said Palestine takes pride in the great historical relations between the Palestinian people and the peoples of the African continent, which have always stood by the cause and rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right to self-determination and liberation from occupation, settlement, and the Israeli apartheid regime.
“Israel will never be able to erode Africa’s support for the Palestinian cause and the legal rights of Palestinians,” Ambassador Almassri added.
