Raffingora – Zimbabweans have been urged to remain committed to promoting and upholding peace as the country moves towards the 2023 general elections.
Zvimba North Constituency legislator and Local Government Deputy Minister, Hon Marian Chombo was speaking to constituents who gathered at Kamwaza Township in Raffingora to commemorate Unity Day.
Hon Chombo said only united Zimbabweans who cherish peace can guarantee community development success.
“We need to remain united and promote peace through tolerance and it’s only possible if we remain united that for development as we progressively work together.
“Next year (2023), there will be elections which should not divide us as Zimbabweans. We need to remain custodians of peace in our country and as we celebrate Unity day, let us remember that we are responsible as citizens in ensuring we positively build and develop our country” she told the gathering.
Sungura Musician, Romeo Gasa, implored young people to desist from drug and substance abuse and participate in economical activities.
“Let us cherish the peace we are enjoying in this country. We should safeguard the unity we display as Zimbabweans. I want to advise young people not to be left out of economic activities that help bring development to our communities. Let us stop drug and substance abuse which is wiping away our future as young people,” he told the gathering before he performed at the event.
