The Turkiye Diyanet Foundation has awarded scholarships to four bright high school students from the Muslim community in Zimbabwe to study in Turkiye up to the university level.
The students were urged to bring their skills back home after finishing their studies.
The Turkiye Diyanet Foundation was established on 13 March 1975. The Foundation gives precedence to social justice, peace, harmony, and tranquility in the development of society’s religious, social, and cultural activities. Its mission is to become a foundation in humanitarian services in Turkiye and in all seven continents.
Speaking during the sending ceremony in Harare, Mr. Abdurrahman Taha Gnar, Religious Affairs Coordinator at the Turkish Embassy said the scholarships were a great opportunity that the young students must grab with both hands.
“The initiative has been done in many countries and this year it is in Zimbabwe. You have been chosen out of many candidates. It is a big chance for you and the big treasure is not the allowances or the money that you receive but the knowledge that you acquire and the new friends that you will meet in Turkiye.
“You will meet obstacles along the way and you will see many attractive things along the way, but you should be resilient and focus on your studies since you are traveling to Turkiye to study. If you allow yourselves to be distracted, you will lose this chance because you would have failed to excel in your studies. In that case, you won’t proceed with your studies. So do your best to be successful for your family and you must not disappoint them. When you finish high school, you will proceed to university, “ said Mr. Abdurrahman.
The Foundation offers scholarships to bright and successful students, provides dormitories for higher education students, and student guesthouses, and has opened a variety of prestigious colleges and reputable universities.
“This is a great development cooperation between us and the Diyanet Scholarship Department that offers such great scholarships to our students. I wish them the best to progress in their studies. Every student who wishes to apply can do so through the Turkiye Diyanet Foundation website, ” said Mr. Adam Wadi, the Director of the Islamic Information Bureau Trust.
