The highly subscribed 15th Edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo that was officially opened by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds yesterday witnessed an award galore with African Sun winning the Best Overall Stand as companies exhibited their products and services following the return to normal after the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Ms. Winnie Muchanyuka, the Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) – the organisers of Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel Expo, said the quality of the exhibition of products and services had improved, a sign of the resilience of the tourism sector to global challenges.
“Since we are coming out of COVID-19-induced lockdowns that had negatively impacted the tourism sector, we had set a target of 250 exhibitors but we are happy to announce that we surpassed this target because 270 exhibitors including 30 foreign firms are participating in this year’s Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, which is more than we initially anticipated.
“The industry is ready, not only for tourism recovery but its growth as evidenced by the high quality of products and services exhibited during the expo. Everyone who came to exhibit is a winner considering they are still offering high-quality products and services in spite of the global economic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. I also congratulate all those who won awards today and urge them to continue working hard to improve the tourism sector,” Ms. Winnie Muchanyuka said.
Mr. Maxwell Moyo, the Group Sales Manager of African Sun Hotels was ecstatic about the two awards won by the institution and promised to continue offering the best products in the tourism and hospitality sector.
“The awards won by the African Sun today are testimony that we are a leader and giant in the tourism and hospitality industry. This gives us the ammunition to continue giving our customers the best products and services,” Mr. Moyo said.
