Zvimba North Constituency – Fireworks and surprises are expected in the forthcoming weekend ZANU PF elections of choosing central committee members.
In Zvimba North Constituency, women and young people have expressed their unwavering support for Local Government Deputy Minister Marian Chombo.
Expressing their support for Chombo during a youth sports tournament held at Chikeya, young people said Chombo has proved she deserves to sit in the party’s main decision-making body through her work.
“Minister Chombo has demonstrated her hard work and remained in constant touch with us on the grassroots level ever since she was elected into Parliament. She has been facilitating various empowerment projects in the constituency. We believe she knows what is needed by young people, and here is a chance that our concerns to be tabled at the central committee” Idah Fauzeni said.
Another party youth echoed the same sentiments.
“Few ministers and MP’s have remained in constant touch with their constituencies. Hon Chombo could have given excuses for attending to demanding duties as a minister but she was someone who would attend to her constituency’s needs from the time she was elected and appointed as a minister in fulfilling promises she had made to the electorate. We believe this is the perfect candidate for central committee and politburo position,” Tafadzwa Marime said.
Debra Kufahakuperi said Hon Chombo has empowered women in the constituency through various projects.
“Hon Chombo is known to empower us as women and we believe she will advocate for more women emancipation programs if she gets into the central committee,” she said.
Other youths are singing from the same hymn book.
“We are fully behind Hon Chombo’s elevation to the central committee and it is our prayer that those with the priveledges to vote in this coming election do the right thing and advocate for her place in the central committee through voting her,” Idah Ruponeso said.
Hon Chombo was described as a problem solver who responds to community needs quickly.
“She does respond to our challenges so quickly. Sometimes you wonder if she will get time for her ministerial and parliamentary duties as even during the night she responds to constituency needs physically herself, a feat which most leaders fail to do,” she said.
Hon Chombo who is confident to sail through into the central committee said she is humbled by the support she has been receiving.
“I am just a servant of the people. I am where I am because of these people and I have to serve them and ensure that their needs are met as we promote the development of our country as directed by the presidium,” she said.
