Banket – ZANU PF leaders have been urged to be united in an effort to protect and preserve the current freedom and peace being currently enjoyed in the country.
Mashonaland West ZANU PF Provincial Chairperson and Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister of State Mary Mliswa-Chikoka made the remarks to the party’s leaders, drawn from Zvimba constituencies at the party’s inter-district meeting held at Banket Sports Club.
Mliswa said the unity of purpose will allow the party to achieve President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of economic emancipation of all Zimbabweans which is only possible through a peaceful and united nation.
“Remember our war veterans managed to bring independence to this country which we until now enjoy its freedom because they were united in their quest that everyone should be free – a virtue which as current party leaders in our districts we need to follow if we want to see the fruition of our President’s vision where we live in peace and harmony as we develop our country,” she said.
Mliswa said party leaders at all levels should be vigilant against being divided by the enemy through infiltration which has been detected in some areas where the opposition took advantage of divisions among party members.
“We need to be wary of being forced into divisions by the opposition as we have detected traits of infiltration in some areas as the opposition takes opportunities on your divisions – something we need to shun at all cost,” she told district chairpersons attending the meeting.
Mliswa said some of the people in party positions are not serving people but sought to enrich themselves by using party positions to commit crimes.
“Some of the people sought positions for selfish gains instead of advancing the party’s objective of serving people to achieve economic emancipation and they are busy abusing those positions to disadvantage others through corruption and abuse of offices. That must be stopped forthwith and we won’t hesitate to deal with such elements in the revolutionary party,” she said.
Mliswa said a recent snap survey revealed that few people appreciate the huge infrastructure developments being carried out by the government as the party leadership at the grassroots level is not publicizing developments being carried out by the government.
“We received a report that most people in our communities are not appreciating infrastructure development projects being carried through the astute leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa because you are not telling them whilst some of you are on the forefront of denouncing your own government, with some asking questions like do we eat roads? ” she said.
Mlswa said the party is confident of overwhelmingly winning the 2023 elections and urged members to remain united and be hard workers.
