Hurungwe – Pius Jamba, suspected to be behind the heinous murder of Citizens Coalition of Change activist Moreblessing Ali was arrested in Hurungwe.
Zimbabwe Republic Police announced that Jamba was arrested in Chidamoyo area near Magunje in Hurungwe District, Mashonaland West
“Pius Jamba was arrested in connection with the callous murder of Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza on 24 May 2022″ police said in a statement
” Initial investigations have established that Jamba, killed Ali and after dragging her from Chibhanguza Shopping Centre, hid the body in a bush and went to his parents’ homestead, he took a kitchen knife and a sack snd went back to the bush.
“The suspect then cut the body of Moreblessing Ali into pieces and made several trips to a well where he eventually dumped the body.”
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish if Jamba committed the heinous act alone or in connivance with someone.
Meanwhile, police have also dismissed that Ali’s murder was politically motivated.
“Police investigations have so far not found any political link to this sad and heinous act.”
He will appear in court soon.
Both opposition Citizens Coalition of Change and the ruling ZANU (PF) have claimed that the murdered Ali was a member of their party.
A memorial service addressed by the leader of the opposition, Nelson Chamisa of Citizens Coalition Change at the late Ali’s homestead led to running battles among members of the two political parties resulting in several houses burnt and property destroyed
