Vimbai Zimuto hogged the limelight for her nude poses on social media and when she was described as a musician, many people doubted her prowess but this time she proved critics wrong.
Last Friday night at Jasen Mphepo Little Theatre could remain etched in the memory of many who attended Vimbai Zimuto’s Muto EP launch as the songbird showed her music prowess apart from the ‘body art’.
From the rehearsal, one could see that the former Oliver Mtukudzi backing vocalist is an embodiment of professionalism as she wanted a perfect sound for her fans.
As soon as she got on the stage, the audience was kept on their feet by her electrifying and well-choreographed performance.
But it is the reggae feel of ‘Zamu’ infused by Mbira which immediately struck a chord in many people’s hearts as they requested an encore.
The collaboration with BaHarare on ‘Ndipe’ also sent the auditorium into delirium, with the former Jah Prayzah guitarist producing his trademark ‘coital’ dances that have made him a darling of female fans.
Early before the Netherlands-based musician’s performance, Diana ‘Mangwenya’ Samukange had warmed up the stage with a perfect account of herself as one of the best female performers in Zimbabwe.
The successful hosting of Vimbai Zimuto’s Muto EP Launch at Jasen Mphepho Little Theatre makes the venue popular by the day.
Officially opened in 2019, the venue located in Eastlea boasts a 200-seater auditorium and has hosted big names in the arts industry that include Feli Nandi, Sulumani Chimbetu, and Gwevedzi just to mention but a few.
It is also home to those who love theatre and poetry.
