Harare – The Municipality of Chinhoyi’s dream of getting city status seems to be coming true soon with exceptional service delivery by the local authority. The sterling efforts were witnessed by the awarding of four awards to the Mashonaland West Provincial Capital by Zimbabwe CEO’s Network.

Chinhoyi Municipality received four awards in various categories at a glittering ceremony held at a local hotel in Harare.

The municipality’s chamber secretary Abel Gotora took home The Outstanding Chamber Secretary Awards in recognition for demonstrating an exceptional commitment to the business professionals through the conduct of a meta-analysis and profound thoughts whilst the local authority Town Clerk, Maxwell Kaitano banged the Outstanding Town Clerk award for being an applaudable leader of integrity, rectitude, and character.

Engineer Simon Marara was awarded the Outstanding Engineer Award and Chinhoyi Municipality won the Outstanding Municipality for the Outstanding Conduct and Service Delivery.

Tichaona Mlauzi, Chinhoyi Municipality spokesperson said the awards were a testimony of exceptional work in providing world-class service delivery for the people of Chinhoyi by the local authority.

“These awards are proof of the cohesive work by Chinhoyi Municipality, its partners, and residents. The performance contracts for permanent secretaries and town clerks and the awards will spur our town clerk to greater heights as he strives to outdo himself as you know if you do well, you would want to continue to go further and it’s also true for our chamber secretary. This is necessary for our city in waiting,” he said.

Mlauzi said the Municipality of Chinhoyi is in possession of two million dollars for the water augmentation program and currently the project is at the consultancy stage.

“If you are going to be exceptional you will need to be exceptional in all facets. We have done street solar lighting as the municipality. We are currently doing roads rehabilitation through the emergency road rehabilitation program ERRP2 and we are grateful to the central government for the devolution funds which we are putting to good use through the outstanding leadership of our town clerk Maxwell Kaitano and all the staff.

“We have purchased some heavy machinery for the municipality and we have already received some of them whilst others are still on their way and we are very grateful for all stakeholders and partners making our municipality be one of the best as we are from Mashonaland Best province and all we can do is also to be the best,” he said.
