Empowerment lobbyist Affirmative Action Group (AAG) is set to launch its Kadoma Chapter in the gold mining city at a ceremony expected to bring a new dawn in the natural resource-rich environs.
The launch is slated for Kadoma Hotel and Conference Centre (KHCC) today.
Speaking via WhatsApp chats, the chairman of the chapter, Blessing Machimula confirmed the development saying it is game on.
“We’re launching AAG Kadoma Chapter at KHCC tomorrow. We have put everything in place for a successful launch.”
He went on: “Our esteemed Guest of Honour will deliver the keynote speech. I was in Harare yesterday to polish all the logistics.”
AAG is an empowerment lobby group established to impart and in some cases transfer wealth and empower locals. It was formed by indigenous black Zimbabweans as a vehicle to ensure that locals enjoy the wealth cake that is accessed from our national endowments.
Its operations resonate with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 of a middle-income economy in the southern African country. It also dovetails into National Development Strategy (NDS) 1.
The group is famed for presiding over popular empowerment projects countrywide.
A local-based economic analyst who preferred anonymity said that the launch of the chapter in the mineral resource-rich city will bring more impetus to the activities of the group in the relatively young city.
Observers also opine that the official launch of the lobby organization presents lofty opportunities to the doorsteps of many industrialists in and around the City of Kadoma. The lobbyist entity already has an office in the centre of the city.
The group itself has a national presence. Last year, the higher-level executive, led by businessman and politician Mike Chimombe was unveiled, much to the delight of the business community.
The group is synonymous with lobbying local businesses to clinch lucrative business deals. It is a brainchild of business minds flamboyant Phillip Chiyangwa and former ICT Minister Amb. Supa Mandiwanzira among other notable figures.
The launch is expected to draw members of the business community and other cardinal stakeholders to witness the historic moment.
