NetOne’s OneGaming product launched today has been described as strategic since it dovetails with the Ministry of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Postal, and Courier Services’ mandate of offering ubiquitous connectivity that cascades to the gaming market.
Officially launching the product today, Engineer Gibbson Jumbi, the NetOne Board vice-chairperson said the OneGaming platform gives subscribers improved access to ICTs.
“Our objective is to provide NetOne subscribers with a gaming platform that gives them an option to select and play highly engaging Android and HTML5 games. The games can be played on any mobile device and have compatibility across browsers and platforms be it android or iOS or other WAP browsers,” Engineer Jumbi said.
He said the NetOne focus is to tap into the gaming space and increase subscriber engagement by providing a gaming service which has been neglected for long.
Alluding to the innovative product, Mr. Jeremiah Munembe, the NetOne Chief Operating Officer said subscription to the OneGaming service is auto-renewable as per the selected plan. He said the innovation is part of NetOne’s diverse portfolio of value-added services including the recently launched OneRemit as the company is working to bridge the rural-urban digital divide.
Mr. Nyaradzai Shoko, the NetOne Head of Retail and Sales Channels said the OneGaming platform is affordable for all Zimbabweans with subscription bands ranging from ZWL$20 daily, ZWL$50 weekly and ZWL$100 per month subscriptions.
He said to make use of the service, one must be over 18 years of age or have received permission from their parents or the person who is authorised to pay their bills.

Mr. Chris Muchechemera, the NetOne Chief Technical Officer paid tribute to stakeholders for helping put the company on a growth trajectory. He alluded to the recent launch of OneMoney Remit, a domestic product that allows transacting subscribers to send and receive foreign currency, as an example of the innovative solutions by the company for the convenience of its customers.
The mobile gaming market is the largest subsection of the mobile industry with 73% of all adults worldwide playing mobile games. In 2020, the market generated US$75 billion revenue, which equates to 51% of the worldwide revenue for digital gaming.
