South Africa-based multi-genre Zimbabwean music star and businessman Mr. P (real name Precious Hanya ) is scheduled to jet into the country this weekend to promote ‘Mixed Bag’, his forthcoming third album due to be released in time for the festive season.
During the visit, the musician, who has made a name for himself in Afro-jazz circles, will have time to meet with the local media and fans.
A twelve-track compilation, Mixed Bag employees different genres. To complement the title Mr. P features celebrated and seasoned artistes Andy Muridzo, Gonyeti (former Jah Prayza backing vocalist), Hwindi President, Dino Mudondo, Nicolas Musonza, and Obert Gomba.
The utilization of different genres means the album will appeal to all age groups.
“The album is a mixed bag hence the title. It carries various messages about everyday life. It also has different genres to cater to a wider audience. The idea is to try and bridge the gap between old school and new school,” elaborated Mr. P during an online interview recently.
Mentored and nurtured by renowned educationist and musician Emmanuel Mujuru, Hanya launched his professional music career in 2013. He made an impact on the music arena when he released his debut album – The Beginning – the same year.
In September last year, Mr. P made history when he produced the first full animated music video for Cellphone, a track that featured popular musician Dereck Mpofu.
