Leading mobile telephony company, NetOne, honoured its High-Value Customers at its 25th Anniversary Golf tournament held at Chapman Golf Club in Harare yesterday.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Jeremiah Munembe, the NetOne Chief Operating Officer expressed his excitement for hosting NetOne’s esteemed customers as well as some of its business partners.
“The golf tournament attests to the importance that NetOne attaches to its customers. We are extremely grateful for your support. We are also proud to know that some of you have been with us for the past 25 years, this reflects loyalty and commitment to the One, the Only…NetOne, the world in One.
“We take pride in the new products and services that we have rolled out over the years. Our transformational journey is marked by the highs and the lows, we are glad that you stood with us. We cannot thank you enough, but this golfing event is part of our efforts, to appreciate the relationship that we have cultivated over the years,” Mr. Munembe said.
In his keynote address at the same event, Mr. Raphael Mushanawani, the NetOne Chief Executive Officer said the golf tournament is a very important year on the calendar where NetOne is celebrating 25 years of connecting people, driving business through knowledge, expertise, hard work, and a focus on customer service.
“Ladies and gentlemen, to quote the World’s top Sports Psychologist Dr Bob Rotella, “Golf is about how well you accept, respond to, and score with your misses, much more so than it is a game of your perfect shots.”
“Like all other sports, the game requires patience and discipline. Equally, in business we pay more attention to customer feedback, learning and understanding how to strengthen our systems to better serve you. I am encouraged to see more NetOne staff members and Executives joining the game taking opportunities to socialize, creating a relevant forum to share and exchange business ideas,” Mr. Mushanawani said.
He alluded to the link between golf and business and took the opportunity to share briefly how NetOne has transformed and progressed over the last 25 years.
Reflecting on the rich history of the company of being the first Network Operator in Zimbabwe, he said NetOne was born out of the Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (PTC) in 1996. Year by year, it is progressing moving from fixed network technology to seamless communications and digital solutions through mobile telecommunication technology.
Today, NetOne boasts of the widest network coverage in the country, with an ongoing network expansion project NMBB3 rolling out the construction of over 345 base stations. Aligned with the national vision 2030 goal towards universal access, its main focus is to connect the unconnected. The network rollout project will see the deployment of 4G and 5G base stations. The benefits are huge and subscribers are expected to enjoy improved browsing speeds and enhanced access to other 4G and 5G related services (IOT’s, AI etc).
As a business, NetOne has embraced its role in digitalizing the economy through the use of information communication technologies.
“Our goal is to ensure increased industry connectivity, offering reliable, efficient, accessible, and ubiquitous ICT services that support an inclusive digital economy. That notwithstanding, it should be noted that NetOne is where it is today because of the loyal and consistent support that we are most grateful for, from our various key stakeholders and customers. I can only hope that this engagement will continue getting even better over the years to come.
“To all our customers, various key stakeholders, I thank you for your continued commitment with NetOne, your number one, digital solutions network. With the festive mood already upon us, let’s stay safe!” Mr Mushanawani added.
