A red carpet was laid for woman-of-the-moment, Manyara Irene Muyenziwa, the president of the Freedom Of Rights Under Sovereign (FORUS) Party as she landed in her home suburb of Highfield today to distribute face masks to hundreds of supporters who turned out in large numbers to receive their own who comes back to her people after a hiatus in the United Kingdom.
“Forward with FORUS is our motto. I am a Highfield product since I was born and bred here. I have retraced my roots back to Highfield today since it is the place where my heart is. We are living in trying times of COVID-19 but let’s remember that the strength of light is shown when it is dark, the true strength of a leader is tested when there is a storm. Yes, there is change and Socrates said: “the secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”
“Let’s quickly adapt to the new normal. In these troubling times, it is imperative to have a fluid mind. A mind that has no particular state. Teach yourself to go with the times and adapt to the situation as it comes and be dynamic through E-leadership. Let’s maintain humanness through empathy, care, emotional intelligence, respect, being considerate of others’ feelings, and things like that. Let us cherish the “WHY” of life, and Health and safety is one thing that matters in everyone’s lives,” Muyenziwa said.
The maverick politician was equated to the late “Iron Lady” Margaret Thatcher, the former British Prime Minister, by Tinashe Eric Muzamhindo who addressed the masses who were stampeding to receive Manyara Irene Muyenziwa.
“Manyara Irene Muyenziwa is Zimbabwe’s, Margaret Thatcher. In the short space of time ever since she landed in the country, Manyara is the talk of Harare. We were delayed by people from all walks of life including the media personnel who are keen to interview this woman of the moment. She is a health practitioner in her own right hence her coming today to address us on the importance of observing COVID-19 protocols including the wearing of masks, hence this donation,” Muzamhindo said.
Apart from emphasising the importance of leading healthy lifestyles, Muyenziwa said it is imperative to economically empower grassroots women through self-help projects.
“I pledge to start income-generating projects for our women and youths who are historically deprived of opportunities. FORUS is a party of new ideas and programmes and since my return, I have chosen to start projects for these special groups here in Highfield. The Robert Mugabe and I are from Highfield. Robert has played his part in leading the nation upon the country’s independence and I will be the first woman president of the country. I share Highfield as our suburb with that late liberation icon so I am destined for greatness as well,” Muyenziwa said.
