Gweru City council recently opened a new customer hub which will be a point at which customers will engage with the local authority when they need assistance.
Speaking on the official opening of the customer hub Gweru Mayor Josiah Makombe applauded the move by the local authority that showed that they have customers at heart.
“We are so happy that as local authority we know the importance of customer care and business engagement, hence today we are officially opening the customer care hub.
“The hub will be a point at which residents, clients and stakeholders engage the local authority on issues that need our attention,” said the Mayor.
Thereafter, the local authority went on to hand over fire equipment that was donated by Operation Florian to the fire fighters.
The fire department received protective clothes that consisting of helmets, fire outfits as well as gumboots.
The Mayor said the City Council managed to get a donation from Operation Florian UK to support the fire department.
“We have been experiencing power cuts countrywide and people have resorted to different methods of getting energy. Some of these methods are very dangerous and can lead to fire outbreak. However, this donation will support our fire fighters,” he said.
The Mayor gave a standing ovation to Operation Florian for the move which is to help Gweru at large.
“We would like to thank Operation Florian for giving our fire fighters protective clothing that will definitely go a long way in sustain our fire department,” he said.
